Constance "Connie" Schenkel, age 47, Yankton passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, CA due to complications from an artificial heart transplant. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, June 28, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Yankton with Rev. Steve Weispfennig officiating. Visitations will begin at 6 PM, Thursday, June 27, 2013 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton with a 7 PM time of memory sharing and video tribute. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Connie was born October 4, 1965 in Ellendale, ND to Adam, Sr. and RoseMary (Walz) Bender. She attended school in Huron, Parker and Yankton where she graduated from Yankton High School in 1983. She attended USD, Vermillion. Connie owned several businesses, including her current business "Regal Housekeeping". Connie gave birth to her son, Kyle Gene Bender on June 7, 1984. Connie loved playing the piano, sculpting clay and all outdoor activities. She was a devoted, loving and caring mom, sister, aunt and friend.
Connie is survived by her soul mate, Mark Spencer of Yankton, SD; father, Adam Bender, Sr. of Yankton, SD; two brothers, Adam Bender, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA and Brad (Rhonda) Bender of Yankton, SD; three sisters, Tammy Woods (Randy Leach) of Redwing, MN, Jodie Bender of Yankton, SD and Hope (Jim) Lanz of Durand, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kyle Bender, mother, RoseMary Bender, grandparents, Peter and Bertha Bender and Fred and Rose (Helfenstein) Walz.
