Evelyn Marie English, age 69, passed away on January 22, 2014 at her residence. Memorial services will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Sioux Falls 7th Day Adventist Church in Sioux Falls, SD with Pastor George Shaver and Pastor Nicholas Osborn officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be in Colton, SD. The Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Tyndall, SD is assisting with service details.
Evelyn Marie Koopman was born August 25, 1944 to Gerrit and Helen (Pershing) Koopman in Chester, SD. She married Rich English on October 21, 1976 at Colton, SD.
Evelyn went to Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD and received her BSN in Nursing and served her God at the hospital bedside for 47 years. She worked in numerous communities throughout the United States. Her last years were spent serving veterans in the VA Hospital System and as an instructor for the VA Nurse Travel Corp. After a 2 year battle with cancer, she passed away in her home with her family by her side.
She is survived by her husband, Rich English of Tyndall, SD; son, Matthew (Karen) English of Helena, MT; daughter, Rebecca Canright of Helena, MT; brothers, Jim Koopman of Colton, SD, Bill Koopman of Coppell, TX, Lloyd (Carolyn) Koopman of Smithville, TX, Leroy (Marie) Koopman of Colton, SD; sister, Doris Schildhauer of Colton, SD; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, and brother; John Koopman.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Dakota Conference of 7th Day Adventist, 7200 N. Washington St., Bismarck, ND, 58503-6301.
