Becky Marie Leapley, age 57 of Yankton passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 of injuries sustained an automobile accident. Visitations will begin at 4:00 PM, Wednesday, February 12, 2014 with the family present at the United Church of Christ (Congregational), 218 West 5th Street, Yankton, SD with a Prayer service and memory sharing at 7:30 PM with Rev. Daryl Tompkins officiating. The burial of her cremated remains will be at a later date in the Gettysburg City Cemetery, Gettysburg, SD. Memorials are preferred to 1219 Mulberry Street, Yankton, SD. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, is assisting with service details. Becky was born December 23, 1956 in Rapid City, SD, to Larry and Rosella (Meis) Schutterle. Becky attended country school near Gettysburg, SD before going to school in town. She also attended school at Brookings and then graduated from Deubrook in White, SD in 1975. Becky graduated from Mankato State University in 1979 with a degree in Music Education. Becky married Larry George Leapley on December 27, 1980 at the Catholic Campus Parish in Brookings, SD. Becky was the vocal music teacher at Coleridge Community Schools from 1979-1982. She then became a Farm Bureau Agent for the next 11 years. Larry and Becky owned and operated the GaShop Stop Convenience Store in Coleridge, NE for nine years. They moved to Yankton, SD in April of 2003. Becky worked in sales at different furniture stores and at a cell phone shop. She then owned her own cell phone store and added another before selling them and going to work at the Lewis and Clark Corp of Discovery Center for a year as the manager. Becky was currently working for the KVHT radio family, which she joined last year. Becky was baptized at the Cathedral in Rapid City in 1957. She was served First Communion and was confirmed at Sacred Heart Church in Gettysburg, SD. Becky was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Yankton, SD and a past choir member there. She loved her family, friends, music and enjoyed being around people. She was a devoted follower of the band Patches and most recently the Outback Band. Becky made friends wherever she went and was always there to help whenever needed with the unconditional love she shared. Becky is survived by her husband, Larry of Yankton, SD; daughters, Jayne Leapley and her husband Marc Kimoto of Victoria City, BC, Canada, and Sara Leapley of Bozeman, MT; parents, Rosella "Rose" and Howard "Jim" Horner of Toronto, SD; parents-in-law, Bill and Millie Leapley of Coleridge, NE; brothers-in-law and their wives, James and Betty Jo Leapley and John and Rhonda Leapley, all of Coleridge, NE. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Becky was preceded in death by her father, Larry Schutterle in 1965, her uncle, Jerry Meis, her aunts, Janice Corn and Helen Glodt, as well as her grandparents, Joe and Regina Meis, and Ralph and Marie Schutterle.
