Mary Jane Mount, age 90 of Yankton, SD passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD after a short illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Yankton, SD with Rev. Dave Wildermuth officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery, Yankton, SD. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, SD, with a Scripture service and memory sharing at 7:00 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mary Jane Brewer was born April 27, 1925 to Clifford "Tuffy" and Katherine (Rempp) Brewer in Yankton, South Dakota. She married Ray Mount and later divorced.
Mary Jane graduated from Business School in 1952. She worked for her father at the cab company, JJ Newbury's, Gurney's and Randall Schaap. Mary Jane also sold Avon for many years. She loved working and socializing with all her co-workers.
Mary Jane loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed morning coffee and breakfast with a group of very special individuals and loved spending Sunday evening with relatives. Mary Jane lived a very active enjoyable life. Lately you could catch her sitting in her chair in the garage watching and visiting with a variety of people. She was still activity involved in Avon and loved to listen to her old time country music.
Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Kathy of Granbury, TX; son Jim (Kenta) of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren: Dawn Kropuenske, Jessica (Dustin) Stanton, Jennifer (Dustin) Brooks and Zack Mount; three great-grandchildren: Addison, Alex and Avery Stanton; niece, Erla (Art) Scherschligt; nephew, Rodney (Irene) Holbrook and several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a host of great friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, aunts and uncles.
