Lora F. Oswald, age 88 of Menno, SD passed away Friday morning, March 28, 2014 at the Freeman Regional Health Services Hospital, Freeman, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Olivet United Methodist Church in Olivet, SD with Rev. Tom Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the Menno Cemetery. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Menno is in care of the arrangements.
Lora was born on November 6, 1925 in rural Freeman, SD to John and Lydia (Schoppert) Auch. On October 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Elmer Carl Oswald at the Johannestahl Reformed Church in rural Freeman, SD. They farmed with Elmer's parents in Yankton County before moving north of Olivet to continue farming. In 1981, they moved to Menno. Lora and Elmer worked hard and took pride in the caretaking of the two museums in Menno and at Pioneer Acres. She enjoyed babysitting, gardening and caring for the stray cats in the neighborhood.
Those who will cherish her memory are her brother, Victor Auch of Menno, SD; niece and nephew, Christian and Regina Auch of Yankton, SD, sisters-in-law, Adella, Hulda, Elda, and Eleanora, all of Menno, SD; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Those who preceded her in death are her husband, Elmer, parents, and brothers, Walter, Paul, Calvin and Art.
