Bertha Huether, 100, died peacefully, Wednesday, April 2, at the Freeman Regional Health Services in Freeman, SD. Funeral services will be held at Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel in Yankton, on Saturday, April 12th at 2:00 PM. with Rev. Steve Weispfennig officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Yankton, SD.
Bertha was born March 22, 1914, to Joseph and Kathryn (Ratzlaff) Walter rural Bridgewater SD. She attended nearby rural schools. She married Wilmer Huether on December 29th, 1935. To this union one son was born, Kenneth. Bertha and Wilmer clerked for K & K Co. until purchasing their own grocery business in Menno, SD.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Ken Huether (Sandra) of Yankton, SD. Three grandchildren, Kevin (Kristin) Huether of Simi Valley, CA, Kathryn (Anthony) Frank of Yankton, SD, and Dr. Kurtis (Stacy) Huether of Ramsey, MN. Seven great grandchildren, Mason and Grant Huether of Simi Valley, CA, Kaitlyn and Turner Frank of Yankton, SD, and Mikayla, Madison, and Carson Huether of Ramsey, MN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilmer, parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Walter, sisters, Matilda, Claudia, Ida, Anna, Justina, and Susie and one brother Ervin.
