Marvin Reiser, age 90 of Menno passed away on Tuesday evening, October 14, 2014 at the Freeman Regional Health Services in Freeman, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Olivet United Methodist Church, Olivet, with Nate Reiser officiating. Burial will be in the Menno Cemetery. Visitations will be from 5 to 7 PM, Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Menno, and then one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Adam Reiser, Robert Hanselman, Melissa Buckneberg, Joe Hartman, Jody Hoff, and Tracy Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of his grandchildren.
Marvin was born on April 16, 1924 to Adam and Martha (Oswald) Reiser in Menno, SD. He was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Menno. He attended Menno School graduating from Menno High School, where he excelled in basketball. Later Marvin went to work in the trucking business with his dad. On December 31, 1945, he married Elva Stern at Vermillion, SD. Marvin and Elva farmed on the same family farm for many years. After Elva's passing, Marvin remained on the farm until 2012, when he moved into Menno.
Marvin was a great father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved watching NASCAR races and enjoyed sitting in his pickup listening to WNAX.
