Larry Gene Larson age 66, of Yankton, SD passed away peacefully early Thursday, April 23, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, SD with Rev. Dani Jo Ninke officiating. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military flag presentation by the US Navy Funeral Honor Guard.
Larry was born March 25, 1949 to Alvin and Florence (Peterson) Larson. He graduated from Yankton High School and joined the Navy where he had the privilege of seeing the world before an honorable discharge. He was married to Linda (McNeil) of Michigan for 42 years and to this union, two children were born, Shawn and Kimberly. He retired from the Yankton County Highway Department.
Larry was a man of many hats. He was a hunter and fisherman. He loved playing cards, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and was famous for his homemade salsa. He was always available to give a helping hand and if something was broke, he could fix it.
Larry is survived by his wife, Linda of Yankton, SD; daughter, Kim (Chris) Brown of Durham, NC; grandson, Jacob and granddaughter, Haley, both of Yankton, SD.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Alvin and son, Shawn.
