COKE TIMMY

Timmy Coke, age 74 of Mission Hill, SD passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at his home.  Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, December 30, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church, Yankton, SD with Rev. Katie Ricke officiating.  Burial will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery, Bloomfield, NE at approximately 1:30 PM Monday afternoon.  Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, SD has been trusted with the service details.  Online condolences may be sent at: www.opsahl-kostelfuneralhome.com

Tim was born in Osmond, NE, on April 6, 1950, the fourth of seven children born to Earl and Mildred Coke. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1970. Tim devoted most of his life to working in the packing department at Alumax (now Hydro-Extrusions), where he retired after a successful 30+ year career.

In his spare time, Tim enjoyed hunting, fishing, refinishing old guns, working on handyman projects, and spending time outdoors with family. He also looked forward to weekends at auctions, where he would search for “diamonds in the rough”— old guns to refinish during the colder months. Most evenings, Tim could be found watching the nightly news, staying up to date with current events, or enjoying a good western movie.

Tim had a profound love for his family and was known for his thoughtfulness and selflessness. He always put others before himself, and his patience was one of his most admirable traits. Spoiling his children and spending quality time with them brought him great joy, especially watching them participate in activities they loved. His family meant the world to him, and he always took special care in choosing the perfect cards and gifts, ensuring they arrived early. Though not a man of many words, Tim’s quiet gestures and actions spoke volumes. He never missed an opportunity to express how much others meant to him. Tim will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, with a true passion for helping others.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mildred Coke; brother, Terry Coke; ex-wife, Susan (Pokorney) Coke; in-laws, Clarence and Lily Pokorney; and brothers-in-law, Bryon True and Tom Stengel.

He is survived by his children and their families: Staci (Grant) Hurlbert of Norfolk, NE (Jordan, Haley, Koby, Cayden, Peyton, and Brodee); Dustin Coke of Yankton, SD (Morgan and Devon); Ashley (Stephen) Hatley of Phoenix, AZ (Brooklyn and Taylor); and Cameron (Lexi) Coke of Mulvane, KS; as well as 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Sandra Coke of Mission Hill, SD; Patsy True of Sutherland, NE; Mickey Coke of Norfolk, NE; Peggy Coke of Bloomfield, NE; Judy (Dale) Prochaska of Plainview, NE; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial donations may be made to Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 601 W. 21st St, Yankton, SD 57078. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Yankton County Sheriff's Office for their care and assistance.

In Tim’s memory, we encourage you to spend extra quality time with your family.
