Obituary of Phyllis "Dolly" Luark
Phyllis Luark, 65, of Yankton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at her home in Yankton. Memorial services will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, SD with Rev. Jacquline Hickox-Morgan officiating. Dolly was called to heaven on Oct 31, 2024. She was born Nov 2,1958 to Roy and Patricia Blake in Belle Fourche, SD. She lived in various places growing up. She gr up with 5 sibling’s Cindy (Richard)Kennedy of Volin SD. Rita (Dallas) Peterson of Yankton SD. Marvin Peterson of Arizona. Richard Peterson of Arizona. Late Brother Gerald Peterson.
She had 2 sons David (Kate) Blake, Jason (Crystal) Reck, 1 Grandson Devon (Bridgette) Blake, 1 Great-grandson Joshua Blake, several nieces and nephews and from an earlier relationship she had a son David Blake.
Dolly first married Dave Reck in Iowa, into which Jason was born. Later on, she met and married the love of her life Hugh Luark, this union lasted 44 years. Until his passing on Sept 11,2024.
They lived in Colorado, Arizona, then Yankton where they spent the remainder of her life. She enjoyed many things; she was so elated over having a great grandson. Although she didn't have much time with him before she passed away, she enjoyed bragging about him. She loved gardening and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed shopping and going to lunch with her niece Tammi. Dolly enjoyed decorating and cooking for the holidays.
Dolly is preceded in death by her first husband Dave Reck and her Love Hugh Luark, her mother and father, and 1 brother Gerald.
