Obituary of Lisa Knight
Lisa E. Knight age 66 of Avon, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on June 8, 2024, at her and Willa's farm in Avon, SD, time to be determined.
Lisa was born January 5, 1958, in Winner SD to Lester and Viola (Wiley) Foster. She attended and graduated from Winner High School. In 1986 she graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Lisa then graduated from North America Theological Seminary in 1992 with a Master of Divinity and Counseling degree.
Lisa worked various jobs over her lifetime, but her favorites were as a counselor (self-employed) and as a counselor at the Human Services Center in Yankton, SD
Lisa Knight was a dear friend and family member to many, and a formidable adversary to spite, hatefulness, and cruelty. Her door was always open to share a cup of coffee with plenty of good conversation. She had a quick wit, and a deep soul that often led to pondering life here, and life beyond what we as humans on Earth can see. She has all the answers she longed for now, and all her pain and sorrow has transformed to joy.
Her love of animals was evident, and there were very few places on her farm or her heart, where there weren't hoofprints or paw prints. Animals followed her instinctively. They seemed to know she had a love for them, and they loved her right back. She enjoyed barrel racing in rodeos and working on her parent's land near Winner, SD in her youth, and raising goats for the last few decades on her and Willa's farm. She loved when all the family would come and visit, and she was especially grateful for Jake and all of his hard work and dedication to the farm she and Willa loved so much.
She'd fight like hell for her family, especially her grandchildren, and may God help anyone who hurt someone she loved. She endured many tragic losses in her life, and yet her love endured. If you were lucky enough to be loved by her, she loved you with all that she had to give.
Love conquers all, and it's never goodbye, it's "See you later."
Her favorite Bible verses were the 11th Commandment. From John 13:34
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another."
And from John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Lisa is survived by her spouse, Willa Kindt; siblings, Russell (Dee) Foster, Roger Foster, Cindy (Kevin) Peters, Dennis (Karen) Burdick; son, Brady Knight; stepchildren, Caurel (Richard) Luther, Greg (Adrienne) Kindt, Geoff (Diana) Kindt, Andy (Casey) Kindt; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 granddaughters Savanna Kindt and Tallan Smith.
