Halle Kary
Kary Halle, 79, of Yankton, passed away suddenly Monday, January 29, 2024, at his farm in St. Helena, Nebraska. Visitation will be Friday, February 2, from 4:30-6:30 with a 6:30 prayer service and time of sharing at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home in Yankton. Burial will be at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, February 3 at the Aten Cemetery in rural Crofton, Nebraska. Online condolences may be sent at www.opsahl-kostelfuneralhome.com.
Kary was born April 16, 1944, on the family farm in St. Helena, Nebraska to Herbert and Evelyn (Hansen) Halle. Kary was the sixth of thirteen siblings. Kary graduated from Yankton High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam. Kary was honorably discharged earning several metals. After returning home Kary was a salesman selling Big A Auto Parts on the road to several area businesses and mechanics. Kary moved back to the family land where he built his home and farmed while never giving up auto parts sales.
On November 28, 1984, Kary was united in marriage to Millie Koupal. Kary later ran a small business selling and putting up grain bins and did custom bailing in the area. Kary was always on the go.
Kary enjoyed playing cards with good friends. If there was a game going you could bet he was there. Along with his love of farming, Kary was a member of the antique tractor club and was also a lifetime member of the Yankton VFW. He cherished time spent with family and friends.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Millie; daughters Laurie (Marvin) Lockwood and Barbara (Joe) Ketter; grandchildren, Maggie Ketter, Kellie (Jason) Cameron, and Alexander Ketter, all of Yankton; great grandchildren, Cierra and Easton Cameron, Jayden and Corbin Huchtmeier; siblings Kay, Kent, Karen, Karma, Todd, Judy, Jane, Berlyn, and Vaugn; and his special four legged friends Max, Bo, and Rex.
Kary was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers Keith and Karlon, and sister Linda.
