I met Dale in July, 2007. We both worked on the south side of Stockmen's Livestock Auction penning sold cattle. He had quite a reputation of rubbing people the wrong way He would often be the guy in the tower calling pen numbers while adding commentary about who was driving the cattle. He was sometimes funny. Say someone falls down in the muck; Dale would say, "how ya gonna go to the Cockatoo lookin like that?" Sometimes he would just tick you off. He gave me work on his farm when I desperately needed money, and I hired him to do mechanic work on my pickup. We seemed to be comfortable around each other; we laughed a lot. Years ago, he sold me his old clothes dryer for $25 that to this day still works fine! I always rode with him in his big pickup, as he was a big man to fit comfortably in my little Ford Ranger. We went places together; Dale was fun. I'll greatly miss being able to just call him and start laughing. George E. Cwach

My sympathy to the family of Dale Schaefer. I met Dale while working at Gurney's Seed & Nursery. We had some good times there along with the late Kelly Burbach. I used to cruise with Dale in his blue/white stripe Dodge and we both liked the song "The Boys are Back in Town." We used to sit in the parking lot across the street from Gurney's and watch all of the girls walking back to work from their lunch hour. One of those girls eventually became my wife! Dale was a "good guy" and I am sure all who got to know him will miss him. May he now rest in peace! Chuck Schuch
