Obituary of Joshua Daniel Gratzfeld
Joshua Daniel Gratzfeld, age 37 of Yankton, SD passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.
Joshua “Josh” Daniel Gratzfeld, the son of Kathryn St. Pierre and the late Joseph Gratzfeld Jr., was born on March 29, 1981 in Yankton, South Dakota. He was baptized at the Yankton Baptist Church. He attended Yankton High School, and later received his G.E.D. Josh was a jack of all trades, working in many industries over his lifetime. By far, his favorite work was trucking. He enjoyed seeing all the different landscapes and people of the United States, taking photos and videos to share with his family and friends. Above all else, Josh was a father. His son, Josh Jr. was the pride and joy of his life. He most enjoyed teaching his son how to fish and shoot a shotgun, racing go-karts at the track and playing x-box games late into the night. Josh enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. Those who knew him best will remember his tender heart and his broad sense of humor, along with his boisterous belly laughs. Josh always had a joke to tell and an ear to listen.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Joshua Gratzfeld, Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD; three loving mothers, Kathryn St. Pierre of Sioux Falls, SD, Joyce Gratzfeld of Yankton, SD and Mary Siemens of Waverly, NE; four sisters: Leah (Shon) Whitwood of Scotland, SD, Emma (Derek) Brock of Clive, IA, Wendy Crossman of Tyndall, SD, Mary Crossman of Pierre, SD; three brothers: Clayton (Alex) Maris of Milwaukee, WI, Gregory (Lacey) Crossman of Gayville, SD, Michael (Jessica) Crossman of Tabor, SD; grandparents, Joseph (Sr) and Sylvia Gratzfeld of Yankton, SD; nine nephews and eleven nieces, numerous aunts and uncles and too many friends to count.
Joshua was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Gratzfeld Jr.; his grandmother, Carol St. Pierre; his uncles, Daniel Gratzfeld and Rick St. Pierre; two nephews and one niece.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions in Josh’s name to Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home, 601 W. 21st Street, Yankton, SD 57078 to help cover expenses.
