Obituary of Robert P. Titus
Bob was born August 3, 1923 in Wakonda, SD to Earl O. and Ruth M. (Powell) Titus. He attended Wakonda Consolidated School through 11th grade. In 1940 he moved with the family to Yankton. He graduated from Yankton High School in 1941. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He graduated from Yankton College in 1949 and graduated from the University of South Dakota with a M.A. in Counseling/Guidance. He also attended the University of Denver and South Dakota State. Bob worked in the retail shoe business in Yankton and Minneapolis from 1949 to 1956. In 1957 he managed a local restaurant, 1960 – 1965 he was employed by Wallbaum Drugs. In 1965 he joined South Dakota Department of Labor, Job Service division as Vocational Counselor and Job Service Representative, working with the unemployed and disadvantaged. He retired in 1985 he moved to Florida and returned in 1988. During 1989 – 1986 he worked part time at Dakota Pharmacy.
Bob was a member of the International Association Employment Security on local, state, regional and international levels; South Dakota Personnel and Guidance Association; Knights of Columbus Third and Fourth Degree; Yankton Community Concert Association; Harmony Notes Madrigal Singers; Lewis and Clark Playhouse; Yankton County March of Dimes and Cancer Fund, He also volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital; board member of Cramer Kenyan Historical Home; member of Sacred Heart Parish and Sacred Heart Choir.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Nicole Titus of Lesterville, SD; grandson, Morgan Crincoli of Vero Beach, FL; brother, E.W. Pete Titus of Portsmouth, NH, nieces; nephews and his dogs, Sam & Gigi.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, H. R. Jack Titus.
