Schelske Elmer

            Elmer was born October 24, 1929 on the farm near Parkston, SD to Adolph and Emelia (Schnabel) Schelske.  Elmer was baptized on December 1, 1929 at Faith Lutheran Church, Parkston, SD and confirmed on May 28, 1944 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Menno, SD.  He entered military service with the US Army on December 10, 1952 and was honorably discharged on December 10, 1954.  He married Agnes F. Walz on March 18, 1955. They lived on a farm near Parkston for a short time and Elmer farmed there.  They moved to Mitchell, SD in October of 1965 where Elmer began his work at the Mitchell Airport as a custodian for the National Guard based out of Mitchell.  After a number of years in Mitchell, they moved to Rapid City, SD after his retirement on November 8, 1991.  They were residence of the Old Soldier’s Home in Hot Springs before moving to the Menno-Olivet Care Center, Menno, SD.

            He is survived by his nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Agnes, and his siblings.
