Obituary of Geraldine Kludt
Geraldine (Susie) Kludt passed away on July 9, 2017, at Collier Hospice, Wheat Ridge, CO, at the age of 71 years. She succumbed after surviving illness for the past two years. Susie was born on April 15, 1946 in Scotland, SD to her parents Roy and Arlene (Hehn) Kludt and raised on a farm southeast of Menno, SD. Her father nicknamed her Susie Q, she continued going by “Susie” throughout her life. Susie was baptized in the country church of Ebenezer, and confirmed in the Salem Reformed Church in Menno. She attended Menno High School until marriage. She had two daughters, Gwen born in May, 1963 and Dawn born in January, 1968. Her siblings were Helen, Paul, Donald (Donnie) and Patricia (Patty) all raised on the Kludt farm. Susie moved to Yankton where she worked 16 years until relocating to Denver, CO in 1980. All four of her siblings had moved to Denver by that time. She soon found a job in a bar for a short time until she began working in the housekeeping business, first for Marriott Hotels and then 26 years for Carmel, an apartment complex, until she retired. Susie arose early and worked hard on her jobs until retirement. People found Susie to be friendly, outgoing, talkative and easy to like. Survivors include: daughters Gwen Pike (54) (Sioux Falls, SD), Dawn (partner Kenny Garmaker) Baiotto (49) of La Jara, CO; grandchildren Jesse Baiotto (30) and Tabatha Baiotto (28) both from Denver, CO and Brittany Garmaker (21) (La Jara, CO). Her siblings: Helen D (Dean) Howell (Arvada, CO), Paul (Judy) Kludt (Lakewood, CO), Donald (Donnie) Kludt (Denver, CO), and also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia (Patty) Kludt.
