Jack was famous for his consoling of others “me” in their times of trouble... he would help you take a step back and try to get you to look at the big picture. In doing so help you grasp the reality that what ever problem you were facing it was relatively small in the grand scheme of things. Once he felt you understood he would assure you that this was “just a phase that you were going through”... I pray that his words resonate with you and your families as well as all those who knew and loved him, now... and every time you face troubled times in the future until such time that Jack welcomes you into Heaven... Gods “trouble free phase” of eternal salvation.

Kay & Terry--I am saddened by the news that Jack (Big Otis) passed away. As you both know Jack and my dad were the closest of friends for so many years. Their time in the Yankton School District, along with Rich Greeno and Don Baker, set them apart for any other era in that school district. Now they are all gone. So sad.
I remember my senior year at YHS and the Y Club Formal which the lettermen's club sponsored annually in those days. At that time YHS had a rule that only students could attend the formal. However, two of the girls the club chose as candidates for Y Club Sweetheart were dating boys who had graduated the year before, and therefore, could not attend. Those girls needed dates, so Jack became the matchmaker. He lined me up with Marsha Drake, and he lined Don Gereau up with Judy Goeken. Marsha ended up being elected the sweetheart, and I had to dance a full dance with her--just the two of us on the floor. I thought about your dad the entire dance!!
I was so very sorry when Terry moved him to Michigan, as after my dad and your mom passed away, he and my mother had become somewhat dependent upon each other, and my mother missed him. You and the family are in my prayers. Dana Nelson
